And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. {Genesis 11:6 ESV}

Yerrrr! I’m the founder of this platform. BABL is a culmination of my passions, interests and love for The Man Upstairs. Like most hip-hop writers coming out of college, I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed with the dream of writing for the Complexs, FADERs and Rolling Stones of the world. But when those opportunities didn’t come, I grew frustrated—and even angry—with God. But He had something else in mind. He challenged me to create a platform where I could still showcase my passions and love of pop culture—but most importantly it had to glorify Him. Because I hadn’t seen a platform out there that did what He requested of me, I dragged my feet and prayer wrestled with Him for months. But He persisted and eventually, I set my pride to the side and fulfilled my calling. And thus, BABL was born. I implore you to find your ministry. It doesn’t have to be in the church pews, but make sure God is at the center.

My name is Rob Holmes, also known as “Ace.” I’m a Hampton, Virginia native. Truthfully, I’m the anomaly of the group: a music-loving artist and poet who’s both business-minded and people-oriented. My foundation and values are credited to my family — particularly my loving, discipline-focused father, as well as a plethora of extended family that helped shape me during my upbringing. They taught me humility, hard work, discipline, strength integrity, and thoroughness. My faith walk has been quite unique. Growing up, my parents and I attended church regularly. However, this ceased after their divorce. And over time, I’ve found God through the meaningful relationships and fellowships that I’ve been fortunate to build over the years. Accompanied with trials and tribulations over the years, I’ve learned to utilize positivity to remain steadfast not only in my faith, but in life as well.
